This gene encodes a member of the vasopressin/oxytocin subfamily of G protein-coupled receptors. The encoded membrane protein acts as a receptor for neuropeptide S and affects a variety of cellular processes through its signaling. Increased expression of this gene in ciliated cells of the respiratory epithelium and in bronchial smooth muscle cells is associated with asthma. Polymorphisms in this gene have also been associated with asthma susceptibility, panic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Whole brain segmentation panels are designed for study whole brain of small animals. The animals' whole brain was procured intact and was sliced into 6 equal coronal regions. Each region is 2 mm thick. The 6 regions were embedded in the same OCT block. The frozen section panel cut from this block can enable scientists or research investigators do biochemical analysis, such as the determination of neurotransmitter and metabolite concentrations for reproducible brain regions (i.e. discrete terminal fields or nuclei).

This cell line enables assessment of ligand (e.g. prostaglandin F2a) based activation of PTGFR GPCR activity via detection of increasing levels of intracellular calcium. The included cell line overexpresses PTGFR alongside endogenous high levels of the promiscuous G protein, Gα15, coupling the receptor to the calcium signaling pathway. Upon activation of PTGFR, the resulting calcium activity can be fluorescently assayed. This stable modified cell line is provided as two vials of cryopreserved cells.
